Search engines are a primary way people look for Web sites, but some people find Web sites
through links, traditional advertising, newsgroup postings, and online directories.
Newsgroups
Continue promoting your site by announcing it in relevant Usenet newsgroups and news
directories or contract Web-Site-Hosting to do this for you.
Some of them will not accept already registered websites. If you run into one of those,
make a new page with almost the same contents but a new description. You should announce
your website in these groups about once a month. The two major newsgroups to which to post
your announcement are:

Asked Questions before posting to these groups or you won't get listed and may get spammed!
Link to Related Sites
If your Web site is not listed in the top thirty, contact all the sites in the top twenty
for your category and see if they will trade links with you. Links remain one of the most
powerful method for people to find your Web site. Your first stop should be http://worldwidemalls.com/addurl.html
they don't require a reciprocal link but can send you a good amount of additional
traffic!
Banner Ads
A very popular (but expensive) method of promoting your Web site. These are the little
rectangular graphics (40 x 440 became a standard) that you see near the top or bottom of
some popular Web page. If you click on them, they transport you to another Web site. You
can use some free banner ads using free link exchange.
Specialized Search Engines and Directories
There are other minor search engines/online directories that specialize in certain fields.
These Web sites can be found using keyword searches. Many allow you to register for free.
Contact them directly.
Manual Registration
Additionally, you can manually submit your Web Site to other search engines and online
directories which currently are not included on The Web-Site-Hosting registration
service (over 250 at this time).
Yahoo Registration
Make an additional manual registration in Yahoo, which has about 80,000 different
categories in their online directory. You must go to the most appropriate category and
press the Add URL icon.
